Lagos state Government shuts down Quilox Club over Noise Pollution [photos]

The Lagos state government under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has shut down the popular nightclub Quilox for causing noise pollution.

This was made known via a release by the government on their social media pages as they accused the club of not following due process.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) stated that the club had not obtained a sound control permit which would have prevented its closing.

They stated that multiple persons had called to complain hence the agency had moved into action to for environmental control.

While reacting to the development, Lagosians have pondered if the move is political as the owner of the business, lawmaker Shina Peller left the ruling party APC and moved to the Accord party.

QUILOX CLUB

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Saturday shut the popular Quilox Club on Ozumba Mbadwe Street, Victoria Island for its failure to comply with directives on organising events and not obtaining a sound control permit from the Agency. The enforcement exercise, which was jointly carried out by the officials of the agency and the Lagos State Task Force, was also a result of several complaints made by residents in the area.
Reacting to the exercise, General Manager, LASEPA, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe disclosed that the agency received several distress calls with video evidence from concerned neighbours to support their claims on alleged environmental nuisances being perpetrated by the club without consideration to the rights of other residents to a peaceful environment.
