The Labour Party candidate for the Enugu North/Enugu South Federal Constituency Chimaobi Sam Atu, who is reportedly a bus driver, has been declared winner of the House of Representatives seat.
Chimaobi is also reportedly a community vigilante member who coasted to victory on the influence of his party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Declaring the result, the INEC Returning Officer, Dr. (Mrs.) Evelyn Ijeoma Ezepue announced that Hon. Chimaobi Atu of the Labour Party secured a total of 65,247 to defeat his closest opponents, Hon. Nnonso Nnamani of APGA and Hon. Offor Chukwuegbo of the PDP.
Atu was, therefore, returned elected after satisfying all the requirements of the law.
Details of the results showed that Chukwuegbo polled a total of 7,617 votes, while Hon. Nnonso Nnamani scored a total of 9215. The APC candidate, Hon. Juliet Egbo scored 2394 votes.
Atu is a native of Ndiaga Ugwuaji in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
This is coming after an okada rider from Kaduna also emerged a house of reps member for the Labour Party.
