Tinubu announces new appointments


President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo (rtd) as the new Coordinator of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons.

This appointment was facilitated by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

The announcement was revealed by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), via a press release.

With over three decades of experience in law enforcement, including serving as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department at Force Headquarters, Abuja, from 2022 to 2023, DIG Kokumo (rtd) brings a wealth of expertise in crime prevention, management, analysis, and control.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in DIG Kokumo (rtd)’s ability to leverage his vast experience to rejuvenate the Centre and devise innovative approaches to combat the proliferation of small arms and light weapons effectively.

President Bola Tinubu also appointed Adamu Laka, a major general, as the coordinator of the national counter-terrorism centre.
