BREAKING: ASUU Threatens Fresh Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a warning of a potential nationwide strike in response to several unresolved issues with the government.

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of the union, expressed the union’s frustration during a press briefing moments ago, as he higlighted the delay in action from the Tinubu-led government.

He pointed out the concern regarding the absence of appointed members in Governing Councils for Federal universities, emphasizing that this situation was against the established principles guiding these institutions.

Osodeke also mentioned the union’s dissatisfaction with the dissolution of the governing councils, deeming it illegal due to its contradiction of university principles.

The Union’s last major strike lasted about 8 months before it was called off with students and other stakeholders bearing the brunt.
