Organised Labour suspends nationwide strike


The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their industrial action for five days.

The TUC president Festus Osifo said this on Tuesday in Abuja.

A communique will be issued shortly, the labour chief said.

The strike suspension to allow uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.

Recall that the SGF, George Akume promised that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to paying higher than N60,000 as the minimum wage.

He also assured that no worker would face repercussions for participating in the strike and that the tripartite committee would convene daily for the next week to finalize the new minimum wage.
