Shoprite shuts down operations in Abuja


ShopRite has announced its decision to cease operations at its Wuse Store located in the Novare Wuse Central Mall, Abuja, the nation’s capital.

This was revealed in a statement by Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, owners of ShopRite and Freshmark.

The closure will be effective from Sunday, June 30, 2024.

This decision follows a thorough evaluation of the store’s financial performance and the current business climate.

In a letter addressed to its partners, Dr. Folakemi Fadahunsi, INT Chief Executive Officer of Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, explained that the closure is a strategic move aimed at ensuring the long-term growth of the organization.

Consequently, the company will cease all operations at the Wuse location and terminate all existing service contracts tied to the store.

The company has assured partners that any outstanding balances will be reviewed over the next 60 days, with efforts made to confirm amounts owed and establish suitable payment schedules.

Dr. Fadahunsi expressed gratitude to partners for their past business and offered assistance during the transition period.

The company acknowledged the challenging nature of this change and remains open to addressing any questions or concerns from their partners.
