Rivers announces date for LG election

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced that the 2024 Local Government Elections will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2024.

This decision was made today after RSIEC’s meeting with relevant stakeholders.

Key highlights from the meeting include the unveiling of the timetable and guidelines for the upcoming Local Government Elections in the state.

The announcement marks the beginning of preparations for the elections, after Governor Sim Fubara dissolved the former councils after their tenure expired.
