Ganduje speaks on fresh plot to dethrone Sanusi

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has denied involvement in any alleged plot to dethrone Emir Mohammad Lamido Sanusi of Kano.

A statement from Ganduje’s office, signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Chief Oliver Okpala, dismissed the allegations.

The reports claim that Ganduje is leading efforts to remove Sanusi as Emir and influence other traditional matters in Kano.

However, Okpala clarified that Ganduje, no longer being the governor or speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, has no influence over the Emirship.

He revealed that Ganduje is currently focused on national issues as the leader of the APC and is not involved in any fresh attempt to dethrone or enthrone any Emir.

Okpala also labeled the allegations as absurd, stating that Ganduje’s tenure as governor was marked by contributions to Kano State, and he is now focused on his national political role.

Additionally, the statement refuted claims of Ganduje’s supposed efforts to influence Emir Ado Bayero to step down, pointing out that such rumors aim to tarnish Ganduje’s reputation and create unnecessary tension.

The statement read in part:

“It is laughable that Dr. Ganduje who has left office as Governor for some years now would be accused of masterminding a fresh plot to remove or enthrone an Emir.

“Those who are behind this sinister move to malign the APC National Chairman know what their sponsors are planning and they should leave the very busy Ganduje out of it.”
