INEC declares APC candidate Okpebholo winner of Edo governorship election


Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the winner of the closely fought Edo State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the declaration at the collation center in Benin City.

Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, defeating his main rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.

Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata came in third with 22,763 votes.
