The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit seeking to remove Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The case, filed by the North Central APC Forum, challenged Ganduje’s appointment, claiming it violated the party’s constitution since Ganduje hails from Kano State in the North West, while his predecessor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, was from Nasarawa in the North Central.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, who presided over the case, ruled that the claimant lacked the legal standing to initiate the suit.
He said that the group, being unregistered, had no legal authority to file the case and should have first pursued internal party mechanisms before taking legal action.
The judge also revealed that the appointment of party officials by the APC’s National Executive Committee is an internal affair, beyond the court’s jurisdiction.
Consequently, the court struck out the suit, reinforcing that the plaintiff had no cause of action.
The case is closed, with Ganduje continuing in his position as the APC National Chairman.
He said, “I hereby dismiss this suit for lack of juristic personality of the claimant.
“The claimant has no locus standi to institute the suit and I make an order striking out the suit for lack of locus standi.
“The subject matter is an internal affair of the political party, I hereby strike out the suit for lack of locus standi.”
