FG lists more requirements for Nigerians to access 50kg Rice for N40k

The Federal Government has outlined the steps for Nigerians to access 50kg bag of milled rice at a subsidized price of N40,000.

To qualify, individuals must provide a National Identification Number (NIN), an identification card, and an ATM card during the registration and payment process.

The distribution will take place in Abuja at the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC).

After completing the required documentation and payment, beneficiaries can collect their rice at the Central Business Area adjacent to the First Bank Branch by NNPC Towers.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari while speaking on Friday, addressed concerns about the distribution challenges, stating that a government team has been established to ensure a smooth process.

Measures will be implemented to prevent fraud, such as limiting each individual to one bag of rice and verifying their identity using NIN and phone numbers.

The initiative aims to distribute 30,000 metric tons of rice—equivalent to 1,000 trucks—across various states to enhance food security and potentially lower rice prices.

However, beneficiaries must have the required documentation to participate in the purchase programme.
