Maxwell Ajah, the boyfriend of Salome Eleojo Adaidu, has opened up about his final moments with the late young woman, who was tragically murdered.
In a phone interview with Salome’s elder sister, Patience Adaidu Unekwuojo, Maxwell revealed that he had been dating Salome since 2018 and shared their last conversation, which left him unsettled.
While Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, the accused murderer, claimed to be Salome’s boyfriend, Maxwell disputed this, stating he was in a committed relationship with her.
He described Salome as kind and non-violent, insisting she did not deserve her tragic fate.
Maxwell recounted seeing Salome at his house on Thursday before she left, intending to see him again on Friday.
However, their plans changed when Maxwell didn’t return home, prompting them to plan a Sunday meeting instead. He shared how she promised to visit him after church and cook for him, as he was unwell.
On Saturday evening, Maxwell called Salome while waiting for a haircut.
He noted something unusual about her tone during their call.
She expressed irritation, accusing him of not missing her, and abruptly ended the conversation.
Concerned, Maxwell called her again using a friend’s phone, but her responses were brief, and she seemed in a hurry to hang up.
“I wasn’t comfortable with the way she sounded. She seemed different, as if she was under duress,” Maxwell said.
After returning home, Maxwell messaged Salome on WhatsApp to check on her.
Her replies, he said, were uncharacteristically brief and lacked her usual warmth.
When he wished her “sweet dreams,” she didn’t respond as she normally would.
Maxwell shared screenshots of their final chat, where Salome claimed she had accidentally turned on her mobile data.
He described feeling deeply unsettled by her abrupt responses.
Maxwell stated that Salome was an innocent woman who did not deserve to be killed and demanded justice for her.
He denied any knowledge of her phone password or suspicions of infidelity, asserting their relationship was built on trust.
