President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Abba Aliyu as the substantive Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), effective 23 January 2025, for an initial term of four years.
Aliyu, who had been serving as acting MD since March 2024, brings over 20 years of experience in the energy, water resources, and transportation sectors.
His leadership roles in both on-grid and off-grid power projects position him as a key player in advancing rural electrification across Nigeria.
Prior to his appointment, he led the Project Management Unit at the Nigeria Electrification Project and held executive positions at Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading PLC (NBET).
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aliyu’s expertise will drive the REA’s mission to expand reliable electricity to rural communities, aligning with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda on sustainable energy.
