Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was brought before the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, 20th February 2025.
His court appearance followed his surrender to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Yaba the day before, after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.
The charges against Portable are linked to an incident on 5th February 2025. He allegedly led an attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The officials were carrying out an enforcement exercise at his bar in Sango Ota when they were assaulted, leaving them injured.
While nine members of Portable’s group were arrested at the scene, he managed to escape and avoided arrest until his recent surrender.
Portable, born on 12th March 1994 in Abeokuta, gained fame in 2021 with his hit song “ZaZoo Zehh,” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
His music career, however, has often been overshadowed by controversies involving public conflicts with other artists and accusations of violent behaviour.
The Ogun State Government has criticised Portable’s actions, describing him as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.”
They reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that such misconduct is properly addressed.
