Body Of Man Who Drowned Trying To Retrieve Phone Found


The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of 31-year-old Sunday Jimoh, who drowned in a well in Laditan, Oja-Odan, on February 22, 2025, around 10:00 am.

According to the police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the incident was reported by a local resident, Kabiru Aladeshayi Ayigbere.

He witnessed Jimoh attempting to climb into the well beside his shop to retrieve a phone that had accidentally fallen in.

Despite warnings about the dangers, Jimoh insisted on going in.

Unfortunately, while Aladeshayi was away, Jimoh entered the well and drowned.

Police detectives and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene to recover his body.

A preliminary investigation found no signs of foul play, confirming that it was a tragic accident.

Jimoh’s family has been informed and requested to bury him according to Muslim rites.

The Ogun State Police Command has expressed condolences to his loved ones and urged the public to be cautious in similar situations.
