Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has suspended the acting Head of Service, Salisu Mustapha, over alleged salary deductions and unpaid wages affecting some civil servants.
The decision takes effect immediately.
The governor also appointed Malam Umar Muhammad Jalo, the Permanent Secretary of REPA, to take over as the acting Head of Service while an investigation is conducted.
A committee, led by Abdulkadir Abdussalam, has been given seven days to look into the matter and present its findings.
Governor Yusuf has warned that anyone found responsible for financial misconduct will face strict consequences.
Mustapha took up the role earlier in the month after the substantive Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, traveled to India for medical treatment.
The suspension follows reports of salary underpayment and non-payment, prompting the government to set up a seven-member committee to investigate and address the issue.
