FG makes new appointment


The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Professor Lucian Chukwu as the substantive vice chancellor of Admiralty University, Ibuzor, Delta State.

His appointment, approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, will last for a single five-year term starting from February 28, 2025.

Before this role, Professor Chukwu served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Management Services at the University of Lagos.

The selection process for the new vice chancellor was surrounded by controversy, with concerns raised about fairness and transparency.

The university’s Governing Council conducted interviews on February 26 and 27, 2025, at the Council Chamber.

Among five candidates, Professor Chukwu emerged as the top choice, securing 83.41% of the total votes.

The Federal Ministry of Education affirmed that the appointment was based on merit.

The government extended its best wishes to the new vice chancellor as he takes on his leadership role at the institution.
