South Korea’s Impeached President Released From Detention


South Korea’s impeached President, Yoon Suk Yeol, was released from detention on Saturday, as witnessed by AFP reporters.

Smiling, he emerged from the detention centre and bowed deeply before a crowd of waiting supporters.

His supporters erupted in cheers as he walked past, before entering a convoy of vehicles. “I bow my head in gratitude to the people of this nation,” Yoon expressed in a statement issued through his lawyers.
