El-Rufai reportedly dumps APC

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and moved to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) due to unresolved issues with the leadership of the ruling party.

Reports indicate that he submitted his resignation letter to his ward in Kaduna State on Monday, expressing dissatisfaction with the direction APC has taken in recent years.

El-Rufai, who was among those who helped establish APC and contributed to its election victories in 2015, 2019, and 2023, stated that recent developments within the party no longer align with his political beliefs.

He pointed out concerns about governance and how the party has handled internal matters, leading to his decision to step away.

During his time as Kaduna State governor, El-Rufai focused on areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation.

He reflected on these achievements while explaining his departure from the APC, saying he now seeks a political platform that aligns with his vision.

Now a member of the SDP, he has pledged to support efforts aimed at strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

He also called on Nigerians who share his views to join him in making SDP a strong alternative, adding that he remains committed to promoting democratic values.
