Fubara to present 2025 budget to Rivers Assembly again

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has informed the State House of Assembly that he will re-submit the 2025 Appropriation Bill for review and approval.

In a letter dated March 13 and addressed to Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the governor stated his intention to present the budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, or any other date within the month that the Assembly finds suitable.

Fubara explained that he is acting in line with a Supreme Court judgment and responding to the Assembly’s request for a fresh presentation of the budget.

He recalled a previous attempt to submit the budget on March 12, which was unsuccessful.

During that visit, he and his team were denied access to the Assembly Quarters, where lawmakers were holding their session.

He noted that despite sending a soft copy of the budget notice, the Clerk of the House had refused to accept the hard copy.

This happened after the Assembly had given a 48-hour ultimatum for the budget’s presentation, even though his administration had not yet received the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment and its accompanying orders.

The governor pointed out that the Supreme Court has instructed all arms of government to operate within the provisions of the Constitution and the country’s laws.

He stressed the need to resolve the ongoing issues and focus on the progress of the state and the welfare of its people.

He urged that political disagreements should not come before the state’s interests.

With this in mind, Fubara has once again notified the Assembly of his readiness to present the budget on March 19 at 11:00 a.m. or any other suitable date within the month.

He expressed hope that the House would consider his request and ensure the budget process moves forward.

The governor, Fubara has demonstrated High level of intellect and his calmness shouldn’t be mistaken for weakness,
How grown up men in the Assembly as lawmakers decide to let themselves to be used as puppets by one god somewhere in Abuja is just disgusting..
Its time their paymasters and the puppets in the assembly understand that fubara hasn’t used a quarter of his powers as Governor of Rivers state..A former governor should respect himself and know that he is no longer in charge of Rivers. In Nigeria anything is possible provided you have elements of state backing you.
