The Lagos State Police Command has increased security across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the immediate deployment of a large number of officers, including elite units like the Rapid Response Squad, Counter-Terrorism Unit, K9 units, and bomb disposal teams, to major areas in Lagos.
These locations include churches, recreation centres, celebration venues, and places where large crowds are expected.
The aim is to prevent any form of crime or threat and to help everyone celebrate Easter without fear.
The police are using patrol vehicles and armoured carriers to support the operation and are working closely with other security agencies like the military, paramilitary forces, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
Officers have been instructed to be respectful and professional while doing their jobs and to protect people’s rights.
Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the police, stay alert, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest station.
The Commissioner also advised parents to guide their children to behave responsibly during the holidays.
He wished all Christians in Lagos a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
