The Presidency has denied rumours that Vice President Kashim Shettima was stopped from entering the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In a statement on Saturday, Stanley Nkwocha, who works in the Office of the Vice President, said the report was completely false and meant to cause confusion.
He explained that the claim, which spread through unknown blogs, was a lie and accused those behind it of trying to create problems between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.
The report claimed that soldiers had blocked Shettima from entering the Villa, but Nkwocha said nothing like that ever happened.
He called the rumour a desperate attempt to damage Shettima’s reputation and said those spreading it were simply looking to cause trouble.
He also pointed out that this was not the first time such false stories had come up, referring to another recent rumour involving campaign posters of President Tinubu.
Nkwocha assured Nigerians that Vice President Shettima is still focused on his duties and is not paying attention to these distractions.
He urged the public to ignore the rumours and advised journalists to always verify their information before publishing, adding that lies like these will not affect the government’s leadership.
