Adeleke Grants Approval For Suspension of Osun Chief Judge

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has granted approval for the suspension of the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo despite an order of the National Industrial Court preventing him from removing or interfering with the judiciary.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed earlier today, who stated that the Governor approved the decision of the House of Assembly asking the Chief Judge to step aside over charges of misconduct.

The statement partly reads:

“The Executive Governor of Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke, has approved the resolution of the Osun State House of Assembly asking the Osun State Chief Judge, Adepele Ojo, to step aside the pending investigation of allegations of misconduct, abuse of power, corruption, and disregard for rule of law against her by the House of Assembly.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed Justice Olayinka David Afolabi as the acting Chief Judge of Osun State with immediate effect following the approval of the resolution of the House of Assembly.”

Meanwhile, the governor has appointed Justice Olayinka David Afolabi as the acting Chief Judge of Osun State with the swearing-in ceremony to be held tomorrow at the Executive Lounge of the Governor’s Office in Osogbo.
