The Rivers state All Progressives Congress (APC) has given an order to the state House of Assembly to immediately commence proceedings to impeach the Governor Sir Siminilayi Fubara.
The APC Caretaker Committee (CTC) chairman in the State, Chief Tony Okocha, gave the directive at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday as he made his address to the house through the speaker Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule.
Recall that on monday, the Governor had declared the 27 members of the State Assembly, whom are majorly loyal to fomer Governor and current minister of FCT Nyesom Wike, “non-existent”.
Okocha said the decision of the party followed the remarks by Fubara that the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political crisis rocking the state was only a political solution and not constitutional.
He threatened that lawmakers who did not comply would be disciplined by the party for failing to comply.
The Governor and his predecessor remain at loggerheads months after their rift began.
