The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Niger Delta University (NDU), a Bayelsa State-owned institution, has begun an indefinite strike.
The union attributed the decision to the state government’s failure to fulfill agreements previously established.
The strike, announced on Tuesday after deliberations at the union’s Amassoma headquarters, disrupted ongoing academic activities at NDU.
Union representatives are yet to release full details of their grievances, but the implications for students and staff are already raising concerns.
Recall that the he Lagos State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) commenced an indefinite strike on Saturday due to unresolved salary matters.
This decision follows the Lagos State Government’s failure to implement the federally-approved 25% and 35% salary increase for ASUU members, which has been pending since January 2023.
