Breaking: Court Orders Detention of Ex-CBN Governor Emefiele in Kuje Prison
Ex-CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele has been ordered by a High Court in Abuja to remain in Kuje prison pending the determination of his request for bail
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been ordered by the Court to be detained in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his request for bail.
Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, declared the judgment as he ordered for Emefiele to remain in prison until November 22, when the court will deliver a ruling on his bail request.
Mathew Burkaa SAN, his lead counsel, moved the bail application which Rotimi Oyedepo strongly opposed on behalf of the Federal Government.
After listening to the arguments for and against the application, Justice Muazu added that a bench ruling could not be delivered given the amount of authorities cited by the two parties.
