Breaking: D’Banj arrested for Allegedly Defrauding Federal Government


Popular Nigerian musician Oladapo Oyebanji commonly known as D’Banj, has been arrested and detain by the independent corrupt practices and other related offenses commission (ICPC), Dockaysworld has learnt.

The singer who is reported to have been avoiding the summons of the commission for an extended period eventually showed up at the Abuja headquarters where he was subsequently detained for allegedly defrauding the government of Nigeria.

D’Banj is accused of fraudulently diverting hundreds of naira earmarked by the Nigerian government for N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the federal government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

The singer had connived with some government officials to use his influence in getting ghost beneficiaries into the program but the stipends meant for these persons were said to be diverted to account numbers linked to him, Premium Times reported.

D’Banj is said to have been questioned for hours before he was eventually detained.

He had reportedly been avoiding the summons until the commission had forced an appearance.

The musician is set to be charged to court soon.
