Barcelona Star Lionel Messi has won the 2019 Ballon D’or ahead of Virgil Van dijk.
The award completes a fine 12 months for Messi, who won the Spanish LA liga with his club at the end of last season.
The award means Lionel Messi has now won more Ballon D’or awards (6) than Cristiano Ronaldo (5)
Recall, that Luka Modric ended the Ronaldo-Messi Dominance in 2018 after winning his third consecutive Champions League trophy with club side Real Madrid and leading Croatia to their first World Cup final, losing 4-2 to France.
Lionel Messi produced a stellar 2019 season with a series of impressive displays as Barcelona claimed the Spanish LA liga title.
There were 30 nominees in total for the prize, organized by France Football magazine and voted for by 180 journalists from around the world.
