Infamous leader of the Russian Wagner mercenary group Yevgeny Prigozhin, has reportedly died in a plane crash in Tver region in Russia.
According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the private aircraft somehow suddenly crashed near the village of Kuzhenkino – and all on board were killed including presumably Prigozhin himself.
Reports suggest that jet was flying from Moscow to St Petersburg and that 10 people, including three crew members, were on board.
Recall that the Wagner boss had caused Russian President Vladimir Putin some headache with an apparent mutiny attempt some months ago.
He had marched his troops through Russia to the capital before backing out following negotiations.
Prigozhin’s last sighting was from earlier in the week reportedly in an unspecified location in Africa.
As of the time of filing this report, no one has taken credit for the death. It is unclear if it was an accident though the mercenary leader’s people have alleged assassination.
