Controversial crossdresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was reportedly robbed in Kirikiri Maximum Prison.
This incident was disclosed by investigative journalist Pidom Nigeria in a post on social media platform X.
According to Pidom Nigeria, a huge amount of money, estimated at 50 million naira, was stolen from inmates at the prison.
The journalist alleged that a team of officers from the Nigerian Correctional Service, sent from Abuja, carried out the robbery on Monday, May 13, 2024.
Pidom Nigeria wrote: “On Monday 13th of May 2024, the Nigerian Correctional Service @CorrectionsNg sent a team of officers from Abuja to Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Lagos, to rob the inmates of their monies. They stole nothing less than 50 million naira from inmates. Lest I forget, the Nigerian Correctional Service @CorrectionsNg officers also stole from Bobrisky in cell 2, Kirikiri Maximum Prison.”
The Nigerian Correctional Service is yet to respond to these allegations.
Bobrisky, known for his controversial social media presence, was sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine for abusing the Nigerian currency.
