A Daily Trust photojournalist, Benedict Uwalaka, was attacked on Sunday by a group of traders at Anifowose Street in Kontagora Market, Abule-Egba, Lagos.
Uwalaka was taking photos of wheelbarrow pushers in the market when three men approached him aggressively, accusing him of being a government informant.
They called out to others, who joined in, seized his camera, and tied his hands and feet. Uwalaka said they beat him and threatened to kill him.

He sustained a head injury and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Egbeda, Lagos.

He reported the incident to the police at the Oke-Odo station in Ile-Epo, and while one of the attackers was arrested, the others managed to escape.
