Davido shows up as Tunde Onakoya completes 39 hours Chess Marathon in New York [video]


Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya has had a surprise visit from musician Davido while attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon of 58 hours.

Tunde has defeated over 90 opponents and has crossed the 39 hour mark on course to break the record while raising thousands of dollars for children.

Multiple Nigerians surround Tunde and are cheering him on to reach his target. Davido like other stopped by to offer support, receiving a hug from the chess master and then staying on to cheer him on.

The event is still underway at New York City’s iconic Times Square, started on Wednesday, April 17, and is scheduled to end on April 19.

Tunde who is the founder of Chess in Slums Nigeria has facilitated the development and upskilling of numerous children off the streets of Lagos.
