Donald Trump appoints Elon Musk

Donald Trump, the United States president-elect, has appointed billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk to head a new department aimed at improving government operations.

Musk, a prominent supporter of Trump’s campaign to return to the White House, will oversee the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), working alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential contender.

This department, however, is not a formal government agency.

Instead, it will provide advisory services with the goal of reducing governmental inefficiencies, eliminating unnecessary regulations, and cutting wasteful spending.

The initiative is designed to partner with the Office of Management and Budget, driving structural reforms across federal agencies.

Trump has expressed his commitment to reshaping the U.S. government, aiming to streamline operations and reduce bureaucracy.

The project is set to conclude by July 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Trump is confident that this initiative will foster a more efficient government, benefiting Americans and ensuring accountability in managing the nation’s $6.5 trillion annual spending.
