A number of motorcyclists popularly known as Okada riders in Garoua, Cameroon have shared their displeasure with Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu for removing fuel subsidy in the country.
In a trending video online, the group of young men lamented the increase in price of premium motor spirit in their local Fulfulde and French.
Dockaysworld gathered from translators that the okada riders were sending out a warning to customers and others in Cameroon that the transportation prices would experience a resultant hike as they blamed Tinibu’s policy.

The video which has spurred numerous conversations on social media lends credence to reports that neighboring countries have been benefiting from Nigeria’s subsidy as they are able to get access to the subsidized fuel which was said to also be trafficked across the porous borders.
Recall that President Tinubu had removed subsidy through his inaugural speech on the 29th of May when he simply announced that “subsidy is gone”.
This led to numerous reactions and instant impact across the country with transportation prices and others skyrocketing.
The Nigerian Labour Congress had earlier planned to hold a nationwide protest but called it off at the last minute as they say they will continue to negotiate with the government for palliatives for the people or measures to ease the crisis.
