A Nigerian army corporal identified as Abayomi Ebun, has reportedly killed a senior ranking military officer, Brigadier General O. A. James in Lagos state.
Ebun who was reportedly drunk had hit the general, who was walking home within the barracks, with his car on Tuesday night.
He was was promptly rushed to the NAFRC Medical Centre, but was confined dead not long afterwards.
Brigadier General James was the Director of Finance at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Lagos.
Dockaysworld learnt that Ebun is being held in custody by provost marshals with his fate yet to be decided.
James, a member of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps and Meritorious Service Star (MSS) awardee, obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting.
He was an Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) fellow and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACTI), and National Institute (mni).
As at the time of filing this report, the Nigerian army is yet to release an official statement on the matter.
