After the recent fresh Ebola outbreak confirmed in Uganda, fear is mounting that the virus could spread into Nigeria, prompting urgent action from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Although no cases have been reported in Nigeria yet, health officials are warning Nigerians to avoid non-essential travel to Uganda and other affected regions.
The deadly virus, which has a fatality rate of up to 90%, spreads through direct contact with an infected person’s body fluids, contaminated surfaces, or infected animals like bats and monkeys.

High Risk of Spread – Borders and airports are under tightened surveillance.
No Approved Vaccine for This Strain – Only early detection and strict isolation can help prevent mass infections.

Wash Hands Regularly and use hand sanitiser.
Avoid Bush Meat (bats, monkeys, antelopes).

The NCDC has assured the public that preventive measures are in place, but the risk remains high.
