Ebikemi Clark, the eldest son of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has recounted the final moments of his father’s life.
According to The Sun, the influential Ijaw leader was rushed to a hospital late on Saturday night due to breathing complications.
He had been receiving treatment at the private hospital in Abuja when he gave up the ghost.
He passed away early Sunday morning aged 97.
Ebikemi Clark spoke from Abuja, remembering his father’s immense contributions to Nigeria, especially in the Niger Delta.
Chief Edwin Clark, known as “The Grand Commander of the Niger Delta Struggle,” was a key figure in advocating for resource control and the development of the oil-rich region.
His leadership in securing the 2009 amnesty for militants and his role in the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) have left a lasting legacy.
The elder statesman is survived by his wife Abisola Sodipo-Clark and their children.
