The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared four people wanted for their alleged involvement in a fraudulent investment scheme linked to a cryptocurrency trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).
The suspects are Adefowora Olanipekun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, and Seyi Oloyede.
Their photos and details were shared on the EFCC’s social media pages.
This follows a ruling from a federal high court in Abuja, where the EFCC was granted permission to arrest and detain six individuals connected to a $1 billion fraud involving CBEX.
According to the EFCC, these individuals, using their company ST Technologies International Limited, advertised CBEX and encouraged people to invest in it by promising very high returns of up to 100 percent.
However, in early April, users reported being unable to withdraw their funds, leading to widespread losses.
Many angry investors later stormed and looted the office of ST Team, an affiliate of CBEX, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
