El-Rufai Sends Message To Political Rivals, Discloses Reason For Meeting Buhari, Atiku

Former Kaduna State governor and current member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Nasir El-Rufai, has assured political rivals that there’s no need to worry about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The visit, which included Atiku and other former governors like Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Achike Udenwa (Imo), and Gabriel Suswam (Benue), took place at Buhari’s home in Kaduna shortly after the Sallah celebration.

El-Rufai posted on Facebook that the visit was purely for post-Sallah greetings and not related to the 2027 elections.

According to him, it was about unity and brotherhood, not politics.

He added, somewhat humorously, that since he and the others are now “politically irrelevant,” they simply went to pray and enjoy lunch with their mentor, Buhari.

El-Rufai recently left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the opposition SDP, where he is working to form a coalition with other parties to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
