Emir Aminu Bayero of Kano has announced the cancellation of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar due to security concerns in the state.
Speaking at his Nasarawa Mini Palace on Wednesday night, he emphasized that maintaining peace among the people is more important than the celebration.
The Durbar, which was set to coincide with the Emir’s fifth anniversary on the throne, was called off after consultations with Islamic clerics, elders, and other stakeholders who advised against holding the event.
Emir Bayero urged the people of Kano to focus on spending time with family and friends during the Sallah celebrations and to observe the festivities peacefully.
He also prayed for Allah’s blessings and mercy during Ramadan, hoping for forgiveness and guidance for the people of Kano.
