#Endbadgovernance: Police arrest peaceful protesters in Abuja


The men of the Nigerian Police Force have fired live ammunitions at protesters and journalists while also detaining some in Abuja.

The security agents had initially shot tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters.

They later resorted to shooting at persons in the vicinity Dockaysworld gathered.

They also detained several protesters who gathered at Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, the designated protest site, Daily Trust reports.

The protest organizers had initially sought permission to assemble at Eagle Square but were denied access and directed to the stadium by a court order.

On the third day of the protest, the demonstrators avoided the stadium in the early hours but began regrouping around 11 a.m.

As their numbers grew, police intervened with gunshots and teargas, arresting everyone present.

Journalists covering the event were also detained but later released and instructed to leave the area immediately.
