Popular Disc Jockey and prominent figure during the 2020 EndSARS protests, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, also known as DJ Switch, has been arrested by the Lagos police and is set for arraignment at the magistrate court in Eti Osa.
According to LIB, a police insider disclosed that DJ Switch visited the police in Elemoro, Ajah on Monday, April 15, to report a man who allegedly defrauded her. The man was promptly arrested on the same day and has been in police custody since.
The police source said that DJ Switch was summoned on April 17 to clarify her desired course of action regarding the accused—whether she sought his prosecution or his release on bail, as detaining an accused for over 48 hours is against the law.
Allegedly, DJ Switch insisted on obtaining a recorded apology from the accused, which he adamantly refused.
With no agreement reached, the police opted to escalate the matter to court.
According to the police insider, as officers prepared to transport the accused to court, DJ Switch purportedly used her vehicle to block the station entrance and allegedly assaulted the female officers involved in the case. Consequently, she was arrested on charges of obstructing police duty, resisting arrest, and assaulting officers.
The accused was taken to court and remanded in prison custody. DJ Switch is currently headed to the Magistrate court in Eti-Osa, where she faces charges of obstructing police officers and assaulting them while on duty.
