The tragic passing of Dr. Ikenna Erinne, a Nigerian-born cardiologist based in the U.S has sparked widespread debate, with contrasting narratives emerging about the events leading up to his death.
Initial reports suggested that Dr. Erinne died by suicide due to financial struggles, including an alleged $15,000 monthly child support order.
However, Francis Van-Lare, the father of the deceased’s former partner, Suzette Chibuogu Van-Lare, has strongly refuted this claim.
Van-Lare insists that Dr. Erinne was ordered to pay only $1,900 per month in child support and dismissed any suggestion that his daughter played a role in the doctor’s distress.
To support his claims, he released court documents revealing that Dr. Erinne was involved in a domestic violence case and had been legally required to stay away from Suzette and their children.
However, new testimonies challenge this version of events.
A close friend of Dr. Erinne, identified on social media as @chyke_kenny_, has shared an emotional account that casts doubt on Van-Lare’s claims.
According to @chyke_kenny_, Dr. Erinne reached out to him on a Saturday night, explaining that police had ordered him to leave his home after Suzette allegedly made false accusations against him.
Concerned for his friend’s well-being, @chyke_kenny_ drove from Philadelphia to Maryland to pick him up, offering support and reassurance. At the time, he had no idea Dr. Erinne was on the verge of taking his own life.
This testimony contradicts Van-Lare’s previous narration that Dr. Erinne held his family at gunpoint before taking his life when police arrived.
Instead, @chyke_kenny_ describes a man deeply distressed by a legal battle he felt was unjust.
Adding to the controversy, popular influencer Amanda Chisom shared a screenshot of an eyewitness account, further challenging the official narrative.
She also disclosed a document that raises additional questions about the case, including details about court proceedings that Dr. Erinne allegedly failed to attend.
