A tragic accident happened on Saturday along the Oshodi-Apapa expressway in Lagos, where a truck carrying two large containers lost control and crashed into seven vehicles at Cele Bus Stop, heading towards Oshodi.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the accident killed one pedestrian and injured two others.
The truck, which was speeding, reportedly suffered brake failure, causing the containers it was carrying to fall off.
They landed on five commercial buses and two private cars, resulting in severe damage and casualties.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed that one person died at the scene and several others were injured, including a bus driver who broke both his arm and leg.
Emergency responders from LASTMA, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and members of the public quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the injured and clear the road.
The injured victims were taken to Isolo General Hospital for treatment.
Police officers from Ijesha-Tedo Division were also deployed to maintain order and support the rescue efforts.
LASTMA’s GM expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
