The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, has reportedly escaped an assassination attempt in Kaduna State Dockaysworld reports.
Usman, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), disclosed the incident in a Facebook post on Wednesday night, January 1, 2025.
“I just escaped an assassination attempt by some thugs in Kaduna North,” he wrote, without providing further details about the attack or the suspects involved.
Elected to the Senate in 2023, Senator Usman has been a prominent figure in the opposition, known for his outspoken stance on governance and democracy.
The alleged attempt on his life has raised concerns about the rising insecurity and political tensions in the region.
As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
In a related development, the whereabouts of lawmaker representing Onitsha 1 North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka remain unknown.
Azuka, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen on December 25, 2024, while returning home for Christmas along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha.
