The Federal Government has approved the establishment of a new Police Academy in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
Additionally, a Federal University of Agriculture will be located in Obio Akpa, Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
This development follows the passage of the university’s establishment into law, awaiting President Bola Tinubu’s assent.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio shared this news during a luncheon in Abuja, where he hosted Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, along with other political stakeholders.
The delegation had earlier met with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa.
Akpabio emphasized the need for peace and unity among Akwa Ibom politicians, revealing that he has reconciled with former Governor Udom Emmanuel after nine years of political differences.
Their handshake during the Villa meeting, he said, marked a step towards lasting harmony.
Governor Eno expressed appreciation for Akpabio’s gesture and praised the cooperation among the state’s politicians, urging continued collaboration for development.
Former Petroleum Minister Atuekong Don Etiebet also commended the unity, describing it as unprecedented in his decades-long political career.
A very Commendedable gesture by the Senate President, if I have not love you before, I do now because of this forgiveness. Let it really come from your heart. If this is happening in Cross River State, there will be progress. Not when someone will serve as a clog in the wheel of success that the legislature and not him will take the glory.
