The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended the Eid-El-Fitr public holiday to Thursday, 11th April 2024.
The announcement was made by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo.
Recall that on Sunday, the minister declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays.
However, the Sultan of Sokoto on Monday announced that Eid-el-Fitri would be observed on Wednesday as the moon has not been sighted.
In extending warm congratulations to the Muslim community for completing their month-long spiritual journey, Dr. Ojo reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to fostering a safe and prosperous Nigeria where all citizens can thrive.

the Ministry of Interior noted that the additional public holiday offers an opportunity for individuals and families across the country to observe and celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid-El-Fitr in unity and harmony.
