The Federal Government of Nigeria has instructed all federal tertiary institutions to make any job vacancies public.
This means that whenever these schools or universities want to hire new staff, they must announce the openings in at least one national newspaper, on their official websites, and in other relevant academic or professional platforms.
This decision was made by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, who said it’s part of efforts to make recruitment more fair, open, and competitive.
The goal is to stop secretive hiring and give all qualified Nigerians a fair chance to apply.
The Ministry also explained that any school that wants to hire must first get official approval, based on their staffing needs.
The government warned that any institution that does not follow this new rule will face consequences.
