The escalating rift between Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, took a dramatic turn as the label’s founder fired back with detailed revelations about their business dealings.
In a strongly worded statement, the EeZee Conceptz boss defended his actions and provided his side of the story amidst allegations of exploitation and contract violations.
The founder disclosed that Mercy Chinwo was paid over $625,000 during her time with the label, under a contract that stipulated a 50/50 gross earnings agreement.
“For years, you’ve received both quarterly royalties and immediate remittances from the agreement, but this greed and betrayal that persist are beyond comprehension.” He wrote.
The statement also recounted a harrowing incident involving his alleged illegal detention by the EFCC for nine days.
According to the founder, $274,000 was extorted from him during this period. “Despite this injustice, I refrained from publicly shaming you or airing these grievances. Instead, I pursued legal remedies to address the situation,” he said.
The label boss went on to challenge Chinwo’s narrative, accusing her of attempting to manipulate the public.
“You would prefer to insulate the fact that you desperately pursued me for years and had to get third parties to convince EeZee Conceptz to sign you,” he claimed.
Additionally, he called on the singer to release her bank statements to clarify her contributions to her music career before joining the label.
The EeZee Conceptz founder expressed disappointment over the public fallout, stating that his initial intention was to nurture Chinwo’s career and ministry.
