The Federal Government has announced the removal of visa restrictions that were imposed on Nigerians by the United Arab Emirates.
During a discussion with State House correspondents on Monday, July 15, 2024, following the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced that an agreement had been finalized.
“I can confirm that an agreement has been reached, and from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE can do so,” Idris stated.
Approximately two years ago, the UAE implemented a visa ban on Nigeria due to various diplomatic disagreements.
In addition, Dubai’s Emirates Airline suspended flights to Nigeria because the Central Bank of Nigeria was unable to remit around $85 million in revenue to the UAE.

1. Obtain a Document Verification Number (DVN) using your Nigerian passport:
– Click the “Start DVN application” button to begin.
– Choose whether you are applying for yourself or a group.
– Fill in your personal information, travel details, and passport information.
– Upload an image of your passport information page and accept all disclaimers regarding data processing.
– Before making payments, confirm the accuracy of all provided information and choose your preferred payment method or gateway.
– Once your preferred payment method is selected, click “Confirm and Pay” to proceed.
– Fill out your card details for payment and confirm.
– Upon successful payment, you’ll receive your DVN via email within five business days.
– To follow up on your application at any time, use your National Identification Number as your unique application reference number.
